Nicholas Frirsz has devoted his life to the art of violin making. A fifth generation master violin maker, Mr. Frirsz carries on the tradition of the oldest family of luthiers in the world. As a young boy, Nicholas played among the wood shavings and listened to great musicians who visited his father's studio. Soon he began formal studies with his father and developed a style that, while bearing a family resemblance, was clearly his very own. Nicholas Frirsz continued his education at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, Hungary, where he earned a Master certification. At age 17, Mr. Frirsz became the youngest violin maker ever to be awarded gold medal in international competition. Since that time, Nicholas Frirsz has earned a loyal following among professional musicians and continues to enjoy a reputation for fine craftsmanship. Every Frirsz instrument is crafted entirely by hand after careful consideration of an individual player's needs. The same careful attention to detail is given to tonal adjustments, restoration work, and a full range of related services.
